SALINAS — The nomination period to qualify as a candidate for the June 4, 2024 Hartnell Community College District, Trustee Area 6 Special Vacancy Election runs Monday, Feb. 12, through Friday, March 8. Official documents may be obtained from and filed at the Monterey County Elections Department, 1441 Schilling Place – North Building, in Salinas. ADOPTION EVENT

SALINAS — Find a lifetime of love during SPCA Monterey County’s Lovey Dovey Adoption Event this Valentine’s Day through Sunday, Feb. 18. During the event, community members get to pick the adoption fee for all adoptable doves, pigeons, guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas and roosters, as well as all adult dogs and cats one year and older. SPCA Monterey County is located at 1002 Monterey-Salinas Highway, across from WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, in Salinas. Adoption hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. SPCA adoptions include the pet’s spay or neuter surgery, permanent microchip identification, vaccinations, SPCA ID tag, a health evaluation and more. CHAMBER AWARDS

KING CITY — King City Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture will present its Annual Awards Dinner on Saturday, Feb. 17. The 2023 honorees are: Alice Eddington Haskins for Citizen of the Year, Sun Street Centers for Business of the Year, Teri Storelli for Friend of the Community, and Thomas Storelli with the Hermie Robles Youth Award. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds’ Orradre Building, 625 Division St., in King City. Tickets can be purchased at the King City Chamber office or from any Board member.
