BACK TO SCHOOL GIVEAWAY
SOLEDAD — Soledad Hair Company will be giving free haircuts, distributing 250 backpacks and providing school supplies to students (12 years and under) in need on Sunday, Aug. 11, during its Back to School Giveaway. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Soledad Hair Company, 709 Front St., in Soledad. Organizers said the giveaway is “dedicated to giving back to our community and ensuring students are well-prepared for a successful school year.”
FAIR VOLUNTEERS
MONTEREY — Monterey County Fair and Event Center (MCFEC) is seeking volunteers to help support this year’s fair, set for Aug. 29 to Sept. 2. Volunteers are needed in shifts beginning on Sunday, Aug. 18, through Tuesday, Sept. 3, and can contribute in such areas as building set-up, entry receiving and building administrative support. If volunteers have specific interests in certain areas, like quilting or baking, etc., MCFEC encourages volunteers to specify preferences upon signing up for a time slot.
