GARDENING DAY

GONZALES — City of Gonzales is partnering with the Resource Conservation District of Monterey County and Save the Whales to host a free Community Gardening Day on Saturday, Aug. 30, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Gonzales Community Garden, located at the corner of Elko Street and Fairview Drive. The event welcomes all ages, with no prior experience needed. Attendees can enjoy interactive activities, such as rock painting, learning about pollinator habitats, fruit picking, cleaning garden beds, understanding invasive species and planting. MURAL RIBBON-CUTTING

SOLEDAD — City of Soledad is set to host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, Sept. 3, to unveil its newest mural at the Soledad Fire Apparatus Bay, located at 525 Monterey St. The event, scheduled from 4:30 to 6 p.m., will feature the official snipping of the ribbon and the unveiling of the vibrant artwork that honors the community and first responders. The mural celebrates local heroes and highlights the importance of art in fostering community spirit. Residents and visitors are encouraged to attend and participate in this event.


CAREGIVERS FORUM

KING CITY — A community forum for caregivers of individuals with memory loss or dementia is scheduled to take place at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, located at 301 Bassett St. in King City, on Sunday, Sept. 7, from 12 to 2 p.m. Presented by Del Mar Caregiver Resource Center and the Alzheimer’s Association, the event aims to provide vital support and resources for caregivers in South Monterey County. Attendees will have the opportunity to share their experiences, and lunch will be provided. To participate, interested individuals are encouraged to register by calling 831-471-8014.

KING CITY — Southern Monterey County Republican Women Federated will host its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 11:30am, at the Cork and Plough restaurant, 200 Broadway, in King City.
