SALINAS — America’s Job Center, aka One Stop Career Center in Salinas, reopened April 5 to help those in need of a jump-start to their career. The Salinas branch at 344 Salinas St. reopened to serve job seekers on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., by appointment only. MONTEREY COUNTY — The deadline for applying for an annual Director Emeritus Richard Tyler Film Student Scholarship Award Program for aspiring Monterey County film students has been extended for a week to April 14. The $2,000 award is being offered by the nonprofit Monterey County Film Commission and is a permanent endowment with the Community Foundation for Monterey County. MONTEREY COUNTY — Transportation Agency for Monterey County, in partnership with Monterey-Salinas Transit, is seeking public input on unmet transit needs in the county. This annual process is required by the state’s Transportation Development Act under the Local Transportation Fund, which allocates a quarter cent of the general sales tax that is collected statewide and comes back to the county on a population basis to support public transit services. The agencies are asking community members to help define transit needs that the public transportation system is not currently meeting. Comments will be accepted through April 30, and can be submitted online at The final list of comments will be presented to the TAMC Board, prior to allocating Local Transportation Funds in June.
