KING CITY — Salinas Valley Fairgrounds in King City were buzzing last month as the annual Fair Kick-Off event drew more than 600 guests and set an enthusiastic tone for the upcoming 81st Salinas Valley Fair, scheduled for May 15-18.
Organized by the Salinas Valley Fair Board, Fair Kick-Off Committee and staff, the April 12 event featured a dinner prepared by the King City Young Farmers and served by the Junior Fair Board. The festive atmosphere was enhanced by both silent and live auctions, which successfully raised funds to support fair programming, youth agriculture initiatives and community activities.
“The Kick-Off is always a great opportunity for the community to come together and support our local Fair — and this year was no exception,” said Frank Lopez, Fair Board director and Fair Kick-Off Committee chair. “We cannot thank our sponsors and auction item donors enough when it comes to their support of this event.”

Now, the spotlight shifts to the main event — the 81st annual Salinas Valley Fair, which promises a week full of entertainment, agriculture and community celebration. The theme for this year’s fair is “The Berry Best Fair,” highlighting the region’s rich agricultural heritage.
The 2025 fair will feature a diverse lineup of activities suitable for all ages.
“Each year, we put a huge focus on the entertainment we bring to the fair — we want to keep it fun, lively and enjoyable for everyone — this year is no different,” stated Lauren Hamilton, Salinas Valley Fair CEO.
Kicking off the festivities on Thursday, May 15, will be the Flat Track Motorcycle Races, offering high-speed thrills, alongside the Grand Tasting event, where attendees can enjoy an evening of wining and dining. The schedule for Friday, May 16, includes the exhilarating 4×4 Truck and Tractor Pulls and exciting Pro Wrestling matches.
On Saturday, May 17, the Junior Livestock Auction will showcase the hard work of local 4H and FFA exhibitors, culminating in an energetic concert performance by Chase Bryant. The fair will close on Sunday, May 18, with a vibrant Hispanic concert series celebrating the region’s cultural diversity.

Tickets for the Grand Tasting are available through May 14 at the Salinas Valley Fair Office. Tickets purchased at the door will also be available on the night of the event. Chase Bryant’s concert tickets are currently on sale and can be purchased online or at the Fair Office. In addition, pre-sale admission ticket packs are available until May 14, and carnival wristbands can be purchased in advance, with prices increasing during the fair.
Throughout the week, visitors can enjoy a variety of attractions, including exhibit entries, 24 carnival rides, traditional fair food and nightly entertainment at the Longbranch Saloon for guests aged 21 and over. The fairgrounds will also feature shopping opportunities at the merchandise and food vendors, with new food options, such as chicken sandwiches, kabobs, chicken wings, Chinese cuisine and sweet treats adding to the culinary experience.
To ensure a safe and enjoyable visit, the Salinas Valley Fair will enforce a clear bag policy, and attendees are encouraged to review guidelines ahead of time.
