The annual King City Memorial Day ceremony took place Monday at King City Cemetery. Hosted by King City VFW Post 6747, the May 29 event drew a diverse crowd of families and community members from the surrounding areas to pay their respects to the fallen soldiers who paved the way for the country’s freedom. Guest speakers included King City Mayor Mike LeBarre, Monterey County Supervisor Chris Lopez and Fort Hunter Liggett Garrison Command Sgt. Maj. Eric Rupp. Following the ceremony, wreaths from community organizations were placed on the wreath wall as a tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
