George Bruce Taylor was born on October 11, 1937 in Pacific Grove, California and passed away peacefully on November 25, 2018 at the age of 81 at the home of his nephew, David and Cathy Taylor, in Anderson, California.

He was the youngest son of John and Eugenia Taylor. Preceding him in death were his three siblings and their spouses; John Taylor, Jr., Robert Joseph Taylor (Patty), and Barbara Jean Hurlburt (Roy).

Bruce attended grade school in the Island district of Lemoore and King City Grammar School. Bruce was a gifted musician playing the piano and French horn in the school band. As soon as a niece or nephew was big enough to reach the piano, they could be found sitting next to Bruce on the piano bench learning chopsticks or other various piano duets.

Bruce graduated from King City High School in 1955 receiving a full ride scholarship from General Motors to George Washington University in Washington, D.C. where he received his under graduate degree. He did his graduate and doctorate work in nuclear physics at UCLA where he also taught.

He was an inventor and consultant in the nuclear and earthquake fields. While living in Southern California he enjoyed sailing his boat to the Channel Islands and up and down the California coast. He retired to Redding, California and enjoyed building railroad dioramas, flying his Cessna 157, and building and flying radio control airplanes. He loved hiking and observing nature from the coast of California to the snowy peaks of the Sierras and especially loved spending time at the Pinnacles.

Family was so important to Bruce and he is survived by his 95 year old sister in law, Anne Taylor (who was instrumental in writing this obituary), nieces; Vicki Taylor Brinan, Pam Taylor Brubaker (Larry), Kathy Hurlburt Handley, Penni Taylor Iwatsu (Kerry) and Dianne Downing and nephews; Lon Malcolm (Kerry), David Taylor (Cathy) and John Taylor (Launa) and numerous great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at El Carmelo Cemetery in Pacific Grove, California on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.
