David Aaron Gillett, age 61, of Lockwood, Calif. passed away Jan. 30th 2019.

Born July 14th 1957, and was the eldest child of Dorothy and Dick Gillett. He was a lifelong resident of South Monterey County where he attended San Antonio Union Elementary and King City High School where he graduated in 1975. Throughout his life he worked in many different trades including nearly 40 years in the construction business.

David “of Lockwood” enjoyed a variety of activities which included, but were not limited to, fishing along the coast for rock fish, hunting Band Tail Pigeons (for which he joked that pigeons from Canada to Mexico knew his name, and feared him), cutting firewood, or visiting friends and family during his annual 4th of July Campout at The Bennett Place.

He could almost always be found sitting on the bench in front of the Lockwood Store giving directions to tourists, telling stories and jokes to whomever would listen, or just simply watch the cars as they passed by. “David of Lockwood” was known to many as a great teller of bad jokes, an avid story teller, and loyal friend, and father.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father and is survived by his children, Richard Gillett of Lockwood, Randy Gillett of Beaverton OR, Michelle Ferarri of King City, Sarah Conatser of Lockwood; grandchildren, Avery, Reese, and Ethan Ferarri, Amelia and Riley Conatser, Max Gillett; aunts and uncles Bev and Ray Gillett, Tom and Janice Grim; his brother, Donald Gillett, as well as cousins, Russ Gillett and Lesley Gillett; niece and nephew, Darcy Domingos and Brandon Gillett.
