KING CITY — Monterey County Supervisor Chris Lopez met with a representative from the Latino Equity Advocacy & Policy Institute (LEAP Institute) outside his new District 3 office located at 1011 Broadway St. in King City on Aug. 11.
The LEAP Institute recently launched Green Raiteros, the nation’s first electric vehicle ridesharing service, in Monterey County. The program offers rides for farmworkers and low-income families to safely get to doctor appointments or other essential errands with zero-emission transport.
“This is a preferred alternative to public transportation as passengers arrive to their destination comfortably, safely and on-time,” according to the nonprofit organization.

“Rides can be covered by Medi-Cal, private insurance, or customer pay, so you won’t have to worry about getting to your next appointment,” Lopez said. “Looking forward to seeing this benefit our neighbors!”
