KING CITY — In games played at home and away, the King City Mustang baseball team downed the Marina Mariners in Mission Trail Athletic League play. King City is 7-3-1 MTAL play and 12-6-1 overall. King City blanked the Mariners 14-0 at King City and completed the sweep with a win on Friday.

On April 17 Clay Barbree and Adam Cortez combined for a no-hit win over the visiting Mariners. Barbee, Brian Lopez, and Cedrick Perez had two hits in the contest. Barbee pitched five inning and Cortez closed out the game.

Last Thursday in Santa Cruz County the Mustangs lost 8-4 in a non-league game to the Aptos Mariners. Brian Lopez took the pitching loss for King City.

“We played well,” said King City head coach Lorenzo Espino. “In the fifth inning we had runners on but we just couldn’t get the big hit.”

In the final game with Marina John Bautista, John Serrano, Jose Arreola, and Esteban Sirdio all saw time on the pitching mound. Clay Barbree and Arreola hit homeruns and Carson Caulk had two hits. Luis Luna led the Mustang with three hits and Cedrick Perez had two hits.
