KING CITY — Salinas Valley Fair is now accepting applications for the 2026 Miss Salinas Valley Fair Competition, offering young women the chance to serve as ambassadors for one of the region’s most recognized events.

Eligible contestants must be ages 16 to 20 and reside in Monterey, San Benito, Santa Cruz, northern San Luis Obispo or southern Santa Clara counties, as well as in Coalinga. The application deadline is March 6.

The two-day competition will take place March 26-27 at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds in King City. The selected titleholder will represent the fair, scheduled for May 14-17, and help promote this year’s theme, “Red, White and Bloom.”

As part of her role, the winner will participate in promotional appearances and community events throughout the year, including the Miss California Rodeo Contest in Salinas.

“This program is such a wonderful opportunity for young women to grow their confidence, leadership skills and connection to our agricultural community,” said Darla Mantel, Miss Salinas Valley Fair coordinator. “Our Miss Salinas Valley Fair truly becomes a representative of the heart of our fair, and we are always excited to see the talent and passion these contestants bring.”

Contestants will be judged on personality, scholastic ability, poise and appearance, and horsemanship, recognizing both individual achievement and Salinas Valley traditions. The winner will receive a $2,000 scholarship, a custom belt buckle and additional prizes. Category winners will receive awards in areas where they excel.

Young women interested in agriculture, community involvement and personal growth are encouraged to apply. Applications are available online and must be postmarked or delivered by hand no later than March 6. There is no entry fee to apply or compete.
