KING CITY — The 29th annual King City Chamber of Commerce and King City Rotary Club joint meeting to promote Beautification Week is planned for Wednesday, June 16, at noon.

Unlike previous years when the groups have gathered at San Lorenzo Park, this year’s event will be held virtually via Zoom.

The public is invited, but those interested need to call or email the Chamber of Commerce office at 831-385-3814 or [email protected] to request the Zoom meeting code and password.

The main guest speaker for the day will be King City High School graduate Jennifer Beebe Hargrove. Her talk is titled, “Murals: How They Beautify a Town and the Evolution of King City’s Murals.”

Artist Beebe Hargrove has returned often to her hometown in the past few years to bring her talent and vision for murals. During her talk, she plans to discuss the journey that led her to believe in the power of murals and why they are of value in a community.

Karen Jernigan, coordinator for the Chamber’s annual Beautification Week, will also give an update on plans for this year. As in the past, the concept for Beautification Week is to ask every person who lives and works in King City to do one thing to improve the appearance of their property.

Waste Management, Salinas Valley Recycles, King City in Bloom and the City of King are partners in the Beautification Week event, which is scheduled from June 19 to 27.
