KING CITY — The board of directors of Sunlight Giving has awarded a multi-year grant in the amount of $225,000 to Mee Memorial Hospital in King City.

South Monterey County’s only hospital has agreed to use the grant for general support, $75,000 per year for three years.

The Palo Alto-based nonprofit Sunlight Giving seeks to build vibrant, diverse and safe communities where all families have access to stable shelter, food security, quality health care, joy and opportunity.

Sunlight Giving believes that health care is a human right and should be accessible to all. Low-income families, especially those with young children, face significant financial and logistical barriers that impede access to medical, dental, prenatal and reproductive health care services.

A rural hospital serving a diverse community, Mee Memorial is currently celebrating 60 years of providing culturally sensitive and patient-centered care.
