KING CITY — Becker’s Hospital Review has released its 2025 list of “Rural Hospital and Health System Presidents and CEOs to Know,” and Mee Memorial Healthcare System CEO Rena Salamacha has earned a spot on the list for the third consecutive year.

“These dedicated leaders juggle a wide range of tasks and are deeply invested in the well-being of their communities,” Becker’s Hospital Review noted in their recent statement. “Their vision and commitment are at the heart of their hospitals’ success and sustainability.”

Becker’s Healthcare is one of the fastest-growing media platforms in the healthcare industry, providing professionals and leaders with insights to learn, collaborate and engage in key conversations about the most pressing issues in American healthcare.

“It’s an honor to once again be included on the ‘Rural Hospital and Health System Presidents and CEOs to Know’ list,” Salamacha said. “This recognition is truly a testament to the hard work and commitment of our entire team of staff and physicians. Their ongoing dedication is inspiring, and it’s a privilege to work alongside them in fulfilling Mee Memorial’s mission to provide high-quality healthcare to our community.”

According to Becker’s, rural hospitals and health systems serve as lifelines for communities that might otherwise lack access to essential healthcare. The CEOs recognized on this list lead efforts to expand services, recruit top-tier caregivers and enhance care environments through strategic investments in infrastructure and innovation.

Mee Memorial Healthcare System is a nonprofit, rural healthcare system and the only hospital in Southern Monterey County. With a focus on compassionate, high-quality care and community health, MMHS operates Mee Memorial Hospital and several comprehensive outpatient clinics in King City and Greenfield, including the newly opened Children’s Health and Wellness Center located in King City.
