KING CITY — Mee Memorial Healthcare System CEO Rena Salamacha has been elected to serve as a representative on the National Rural Health Association’s Rural Health Congress.
As the policy-making body of the National Rural Health Association (NRHA), the Rural Health Congress determines the association’s positions on public policy through a series of policy briefs and issue papers.
The Congress includes elected representatives from each of the association’s constituency groups, State Association Council, State Office Council, issue groups and officers.
According to the NRHA, this gives broad grassroots representation that reflects the concerns of its membership.
Salamacha will serve as the Rural Health Clinic CG Representative, a volunteer position.
Her term begins Jan. 1, 2022, and will end Dec. 31, 2023.
As a Congress member, Salamacha will be asked to engage in NRHA’s policymaking process, which includes providing subject matter expertise, reviewing and approving draft policies and participating in Rural Health Congress meetings several times per year.
