KING CITY — After 29 years with Monterey County Free Libraries (MCFL), Elisa Perez — Library Assistant II at the King City branch — is retiring at the end of July.
Perez has been an integral part of the library system. Throughout her time with MCFL, she has worked at various branch locations, including King City, San Lucas, San Ardo, Bradley and Parkfield.
She also drove the bookmobile for 10 years, serving many communities in South Monterey County — from Bradley to Chualar.
“Elisa’s hard work and dedication will leave a long-lasting impact on the community and generations of patrons who grew up visiting the library, including her own children — Jasmin and Alexander,” according to staff at the King City branch of MCFL.
Most recently, Perez coordinated a very successful Lotería program attended by many community members. Her participation in Tomo Books book fairs also helped MCFL add more Spanish and English-Spanish bilingual books to the collection at the King City branch.
Perez is described as a “team player who always enthusiastically supported community initiatives,” including Lunch at the Library, Summer and Winter Reading clubs, Día del Niño and Fall Festival programs.
“When the King City branch was activated as Temporary Evacuation Center and Cooling Center, Elisa was there to serve the public,” staff stated. “We wish Elisa a very happy retirement and thank her for her service and dedication to our library system and community.”
