To the Editor:
Please join your neighbors to observe the one-year anniversary of Donald Trump’s presidency. Tuesday, Jan. 20, from 4 to 6 p.m., those outraged by the harm and chaos inflicted on the country and the world in just one year will assemble peacefully at the King City Welcome sign. We will hold signs and perhaps walk to a nearby shopping center to express our concern.
Japanese-Americans remind us that in 1987, under President Reagan, Congress voted to never repeat the mistake of incarcerating masses of people with no due process for criminal activity. This promise and our commitment to the democratic rule of law, at home and abroad, unravels before our eyes.
We can no longer be silent, imagining that our democracy is secure.
Please stand together to say “no” to out-of-control federal force that threatens all of us in the name of making America great. This is not what the majority of voters chose in 2024 nor what we are willing to support in 2026 and beyond.
See you on Jan. 20.
