To the Editor:
For many years I made my living as a street cop, trying to distinguish fact from fiction. And for Americans, one indisputable fact is, without the National Rifle Association you would not be able to own a firearm.
As of 1967, the NRA is the oldest civil rights organization in America and has stood like a rock to back the Second Amendment and the First Amendment. Because of this belief in our constitution, the NRA is under relentless attack. The strength of the NRA is its membership of common, law-abiding Americans. I am a life member, only one of many.
One of Americaās traditions is that, as best you can, you take care of your family, you carry your own water and you do your work. We don’t rely on others to do this for us.
I am one of five boys, and when one of us would get too puffed up, one of our sisters or girl cousins would stick a pin in us. And that was a blessing, still is.
