King City Police arrest teen for theft

KING CITY — King City Police Department responded to a report of two subjects looking into vehicles and checking car doors in the early hours of Nov. 24.

Upon arrival, officers located the subjects and attempted to contact them, but they fled on foot.

Officers apprehended one of the subjects near the intersection of Nantucket Way and Cambridge Avenue. The subject, a 17-year-old male juvenile, was in possession of numerous wallets belonging to residents of King City.

Officers contacted most of the residents and confirmed the wallets were stolen from inside their unlocked vehicles. The subject was placed under arrest for petty theft, possession of stolen property, tampering with a vehicle and resisting or delaying an officer.

King City Police Department still has unclaimed items recovered during this arrest. If anyone discovers items missing from their vehicle, contact KCPD at 831-385-4848 or Monterey County Communications non-emergency number at 831-755-5111 to file a police report.

“King City Police Department encourages the community not to leave their vehicles unlocked and to remove valuables from your vehicle when left unattended,” police said in a news release.

Anyone with more information regarding this case is encouraged to contact King City Police Sgt. Anthony Shaw at 831-386-5996 or ashaw@kingcity.com, or call the We Tip line at 1-800-78-CRIME.
