KING CITY — In a continued effort to bolster public safety, King City is offering a grant program designed to help residents offset the costs of installing security cameras at their homes.

City officials announced that residents can apply for grants of up to $200 per household to cover purchase and installation expenses.

“Security cameras installed and maintained by residents at their homes have been instrumental in the City’s public safety efforts,” according to City officials.

The program is not only about installation; it also aims to create a network of surveillance that can aid law enforcement.

The City maintains a registry of residential cameras, allowing police officers to contact residents for footage when a crime is committed in their neighborhood. This collaboration helps officers trace information from the City’s cameras to identify suspects more effectively.

Residents interested in taking part in the grant program can find the application on the City’s website kingcity.com.

The process is straightforward: fill out and submit the application, and then provide receipts once the camera system is installed. An officer will inspect the installation to ensure it meets the necessary criteria before processing the grant payment.

To be eligible for funding, the security system must include cameras directed at the street, possess video storage accessible to the King City Police Department upon request, and be registered with the City.

City officials encourage residents with existing camera systems to join the registry by accessing the necessary forms on the City website in the Public Safety section under “Documents and Forms.”

For further questions regarding the grant program or registration, residents can contact the City at 831-386-5956.
