KING CITY — King City Police Department responded to a stabbing report on Oct. 24 at about 3:05 p.m. at a residence in the 100 block of Leeds Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult female inside the residence suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim was provided medical aid at the scene and transported by ambulance to an area trauma center, where she is listed in “critical but stable condition,” according to police.

Officers contacted Sergio Flores-Merino, a 36-year-old resident of King City, near the residence. Flores-Moreno was positively identified as the suspect responsible for the stabbing, and was subsequently taken into custody.

“The investigation revealed the suspect is a relative of the victim and the attack stemmed from a family disagreement,” police said.

Flores-Merino was arrested for attempted murder, residential burglary and resisting arrest. He was booked and housed at Monterey County Jail.
