KING CITY — On Dec. 4, at about 1:11 p.m., officers from the King City Police Department were dispatched to the 500 block of Lynn Street on a report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers located two vehicles parked on Lynn Street that sustained damage from gunshots. The investigation revealed there was an altercation between the occupants of two vehicles traveling on Lynn Street, one traveling eastbound and one traveling westbound.
“During the altercation, one of the occupants of the vehicle traveling eastbound exited his vehicle and fired several rounds in the direction of the vehicle traveling westbound,” police said in a news release. “Nobody was hit but the two aforementioned vehicles sustained damage from the gunshots.”
Officers investigating the scene located multiple bullet casings at the intersection of Lynn and Russ streets.
Through investigation, detectives were able to identify a person of interest in the case — a 17-year-old male juvenile resident of King City. On Dec. 13, King City officers and other agencies served multiple search warrants throughout the city.
During the service of the search warrants, the 17-year-old male juvenile was taken into custody for his role in the shooting. He was later booked into Monterey County Juvenile Hall on charges including attempted murder.
“The investigation is ongoing,” police said.
