KING CITY — The King City community gathered Monday morning at the King City Cemetery to pay tribute to service members who sacrificed their lives for the nation.

Hosted by King City VFW Post 6747, the Memorial Day ceremony drew a large crowd of residents, veterans and military families. Local organizations participated by delivering handcrafted wreaths for the memorial wall, and members of the California Cadet Corps presented the flags.

Fort Hunter Liggett Chaplain (LTC) Todd Golden offered the invocation and Garrison Commander Col. Stephen Trotter delivered the keynote address, highlighting the courage and sacrifice of those in uniform. Mayor Mike LeBarre and County Supervisor Chris Lopez shared remarks, as well, emphasizing the significance of honoring fallen heroes.

The May 26 event also included a drive-thru barbecue at the local VFW Hall that afternoon.
