KING CITY — King City High School senior Stephanie Barron-Alcala was accepted into the competitive California Music Educators Association (CMEA) – Central Coast Section’s High School Honor Orchestra.

Barron-Alcala will be performing with the orchestra on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 2 p.m. at Cabrillo Community College in Aptos.

“We are really proud of Stephanie for all the accomplishments that she is achieving at such a young age due to the dedication and effort she puts in. Above all, we love that she is very passionate and driven on her accord,” said her father Rey Barron and her mother Veronica Alcala.

Barron-Alcala has been playing the violin for just over two years under the tutelage of Aya Ettinger. She also volunteers at local arts organization Sol Treasures to help teach violin classes to new musicians.

In addition, Barron-Alcala has played at various community events, including at “The Nutcracker” ballet, a Salinas Valley Recycles event, the local Memorial Day service, Sol Treasures events and during the musical “Fiddler on the Roof.”
