King City Councilmember Acosta announces resignation

Council to discuss filling vacancy at next meeting

KING CITY — King City Councilmember Darlene Acosta has submitted a letter of resignation vacating her District 1 council seat effective Feb. 14 due to health reasons.

“I have considered it an extreme privilege to serve our community as a member of our City Council,” Acosta said in a statement Monday. “I would like to express my deepest appreciation to all the Council, City staff and constituents for your support, friendship, professionalism and great work to make King City a better place for everyone. It has meant so much to me to be a part of it.”

Acosta was recently re-elected for her third term on the City Council, having served since 2014.

According to Mayor Mike LeBarre, “Councilwoman Acosta has been an amazing advocate for our community, her perspective and straight forward discussions have helped shape policies that have greatly benefited our community. She is a valuable member of our team and will be very difficult to replace. It’s been an honor and pleasure working with Darlene on the Council.”

King City Council will discuss options on how to fill the vacancy at its next meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 14, at 6 p.m. at City Hall.
