KING CITY — King City Cemetery, an official Wreaths Across America location, will host a wreath-laying ceremony at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, joining more than 4,500 other locations across the country this year for National Wreaths Across America Day with over 3 million volunteers coming together.
Coordinated and led by local volunteers and fundraising groups, they will place wreaths on veterans’ graves at King City Cemetery, 1010 Broadway St.
The annual event seeks to further the Wreaths Across America mission of “Remember, Honor and Teach,” ensuring that the memory of those who served the country endures.
Garrison Commander Col. Jason McKenzie and Garrison CSM David Fimbres from Fort Hunter Liggett will be speaking at this year’s event, which is open to the public.
Volunteers are needed to place the wreaths and are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9 a.m. prior to the ceremony for check-in and instructions. In addition, volunteers are needed to help mark the veterans’ graves on Friday, Dec. 12, at 1 p.m. at the cemetery.
