KING CITY — The 26th Annual Lighted Christmas Parade celebrated the holiday season while bringing joy and peace to downtown King City in December.

Presented by the King City Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture, the evening parade drew hundreds of families and community members who watched the illuminated spectacle from its route along Broadway Street on Dec. 5.

This year’s parade featured colorful floats, lighted vehicles and special appearances by the Grinch and Santa Claus — all under the theme “Peace on Earth.” The event culminated at the Town Square, where children could meet and take photos with Jolly Old Saint Nick himself.

As announced by the Chamber, trophy winners for the 2025 parade were the following:

Business/Merchant

1st Place – King City Veterinary Clinic
2nd Place – Western Harvesting
3rd Place – L.A. Hearne

Public Service

1st Place – Cal Fire
2nd Place – King City Volunteer Fire
3rd Place – Salinas Valley Recycles

Clubs/Organizations

1st Place – Bitterwater School
2nd Place – King City FFA
3rd Place – King City High School Interact Club

Other Entries/Individuals

1st Place – Michael Arbrun
2nd Place – Don Carrol
3rd Place – GVD Trucking

Along with local dignitaries and schools, other parade participants included Ballet Folklórico, Cal Water, Fort Hunter Liggett, Greenfield High School’s 246th Battalion of the California Cadet Corps, King City High School Band, King City Police Department, Mee Memorial Healthcare System, Monterey County Sheriff’s Office and Waste Management.

“Thanks again to all the entries for the Lighted Christmas Parade,” said Chamber Manager Janet Bessemer.
