KING CITY — A candlelight service, a celebration in the barn and a reenactment of the Nativity are planned this month for the public, sponsored by Grace Lutheran Church in King City.

The Bethlehem Experience is a Saturday afternoon, Dec. 17, opportunity to bring the family to the Redtail Ranch in Pine Canyon for a chance to experience scenes that resemble the first Christmas. 

Animals, activities for children, music celebrating the birth of the Christ Child will be presented by actors in historic costumes. There will also be a Bethlehem Escape Room (tent) geared for older children and adults.

The free event runs from 2 to 5 p.m., with visitors invited to drop by any time at 53060 Pine Canyon Road, four miles west of Jolon Road.

A Christmas celebration in the barn is planned for Sunday, Dec. 18, at 3 p.m. at Redtail Ranch. This church service will feature Christmas music and a message from Erick Reinstedt of True Life Christian Fellowship of Lockwood. The barn is equipped with heaters, but coats are recommended.

A Friday Night Candlelight Service is planned at Grace Lutheran Church on Friday, Dec. 23, at 205 Canal St. This service will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be preceded by refreshments beginning at 5:30.

The public is invited to arrive early for a family photograph and an ornament craft for children. The church service will feature special music and a message from Pastor Wendell Brown, as well as the raising of the candles during the singing of “Silent Night.”
