KING CITY — King City High School junior running back Carson Tidwell had an outstanding performance last Friday night against the Everett Alvarez Eagles, as he rushed for 419 yards on 42 carries.

The speedy back also contributed to the Mustangs’ 42-28 victory by scoring five touchdowns.

“I know what the rushing records are at King City as my brother Marc was second on the record board with 319 yards,” said King City head football coach Mac Villanueva. “My brother ran for 319 yards in 1995 and Oscar Mendoza broke that mark with 333 yards in 1999. Carson has good vision and balance and is very elusive when he has space to run. He has great speed as he is a track athlete and he is able to get way for long runs. He is able to break tackles and receives lots of help from our offensive line that includes Armando Villasenor, Zack Lopez, Jden Hernandez and Joaquin Gutierrez.”

The 16-year-old Tidwell, son of Ryan and Sheree Tidwell, is now the No. 2 ranked runner in the tri-county area for high school football with 1,185 yards on 150 carries.

Tidwell is second on the Central Coast Section record for single-game rushing records. The CCS all-time single-game record is 435 yards.
