KING CITY — Two boxers for the San Ardo Boxing Club and one from the King City Boxing Club came home with medals after competing in the weeklong National Junior Olympics tournament that took place in Las Vegas from June 14-21.

Bryan Cruz and Miguel Hernandez from the San Ardo Boxing Club came home with fourth-place medals, and Andre Mosqueda of the King City Boxing Club placed first.

Coach Rodolfo Tapia applauded his fighters for their work at the Junior Olympics.

“Brian fought three times and had a really good performance,” Tapia said. “Miguel fought two times and Andre four two times and were strong in the matches.”

On Saturday, July 12, King City boxers Alexis Ramos, 16, and Alex Salazar, 12, will join Cruz for a boxing show at Hollister. The local boxing clubs also have another match in Salinas on July 26.
