KING CITY — King City Police Officer Ricardo Robles was promoted to the rank of sergeant during a promotional ceremony last Thursday.

Police Chief Robert Masterson led the Oct. 11 ceremony at the King City Police Department on Bassett Street, during which Robles was pinned with his sergeant’s badge by his wife of 19 years, Lupe.

Sgt. Robles, a 19-year veteran of law enforcement, started his career as a King City Police Explorer in 1994, learning about the inner workings of a police department as well as the responsibilities of a police officer.

He participated in ride-alongs with officers and worked crowd control at community events.

In 1996, Robles attended law enforcement classes at Hartnell College and, upon completion, was appointed as a reserve officer. Two years later he attended the Regular Basic Police Academy at Gabilan College.

After graduating from the police academy in 1999, he became a full-time officer with the King City Police Department.

During his tenure with King City, Robles has served as a patrol officer, Police Explorer adviser, field training officer and school resource officer, in addition to being one of the department’s less-lethal weapons instructors.

Masterson said he wishes Robles the best in his new endeavors and future assignments as a police sergeant. He also thanked the King City Council and the public for the “continued support of the police department.”
