PACIFIC GROVE — The King City boys track and field boys team took first place in five events in a 86 to 50 win over the Carmel Padres last Thursday on the Pacific Grove High School track. The Greenfield boys lost 85-37 to Pacific Grove. Isidro Cabrera placed first in the shot put with a best of 41-5 and placed first in the discus with a best mark of 117-1. Cabrera was the only Mustang double event winner.

Other first place finishers for the Mustangs were: Jhames Bautista, 45.6 in the 300 hurdles; Jesus Avalos, 10:23 in the 3200; and the 4 x 100 relay won the event in 46.4. Roman Munoz made his return to the track after recovering from an injury and placed second in the 1600 in 4:41.

Also placing for the King City boys were: Miguel Zendejas, 4th in the 1600 in 4:46 and fourth in the 800 in 2:06; Christian Olmos, second in the 100 in 11.6 and third in the 200 in 24.1; Dylan Oliveros, sixth in the 100 12.1 and second in the triple jump, 38-6 ½; Bautista, fourth in the long jump with a best of 18-5; Carter Tugel, sixth in the 300 hurdles in 48.1; Ricardo Diaz, second in the 3200, 10:55; Xavier Salone, fourth in the 200 in 24.5; Ismael Rocha, third in the pole vault in 10-0; and Freddy Garcia, sixth in the pole vault at 9-6; Michael Hart, fourth in the high jump at 5-4; Christian Rose, sixth in the long jump with a best of 17-3; Cody Scrivner, fourth in the discus, 94-11; Rodrigo Andrade, fifth in the discus, 86-2; Kyras Headley, sixth in the discus, 83-10; Justin Mantel, third in the shot put, 37-5; and the third place 4 x 400 relay team, 3:49.

Placing for the Greenfield boys were: the 4 x 100 relay team, 47.4; Rodrigo Garcia, fifth in the 1600, 4:47; Luis Meza, sixth in the 1600 in 4:50 and sixth in the 800, 2:11; Hector Ramirez, second in the 200, 24.0 and third in the 400 54.9.

The King City girls lost 80-3 to Carmel and the Greenfield girls lost 92-7 to Pacific Grove. Placing for the King City girls were: Kajar Rodgers, third in the 100 in 13.8; the 4 x 100 relay team placed third in 54.8; Cali Murillo, fourth in the 300 hurdles; Elizabeth Bryant, sixth in the 300 hurdles in 55.7; Milagros Ortega, fourth in the 3200, 13:39; Daniela Bedolla, fifth in the 3200, 13:40; Jalen Mendez, fourth in the high jump, 4-4; Emily Chavez, fifth in the pole vault, 7-0; Stephanie Politron, second in the shot put 25-9; Cassidy Flores, third in the shot put, 25-9; Lauren Rist, fourth in the shot put, 24-2.75; Daisy Chavez, fifth in the shot put, 22-11. Placing for the Greenfield girls were: Celeste Castro, fifth in the 800.

King City, Gonzales, and Greenfield sent athletes on Saturday to the Top 8 Meet at Los Gatos High School. For King City Roman Munoz competed in the varsity boys 1600 and placed eighth with a time of 4:22.3. Jesus Avalos competed in the varsity division and placed 12th in time of 9:58. Dylan Oliveros competed in the frosh-soph triple jump.

For Gonzales Pablo Villasenor competed in the frosh-soph boys shot put and discus, and Matthew Cortez competed in the frosh-soph boys triple jump. Villasenor place second in the shot put with a best of 50-1 ½ and placed seventh in the discus with a best of 124-1. Cortez placed 11th in the triple jump with a best of 39-7.75.

Bruin runners Rigo Garcia and Luis Meza competed in the 3200 and 1600 respectively. Garcia placed 13th and ran a time of 10:03 in the frosh-soph 3200 and Meza placed 22nd in the varsity 1600 in a time of 4:33.

Tomorrow all four South County track and field teams will participate in the Daines/Stireman Meet at War Memorial Stadium in King City. On Saturday, May 6, the Mission Trail Athletic League Championships will take place at Pacific Grove High School.
