KING CITY — King City Police Department is seeking the public’s help regarding a pair of shootings that took place over the past couple days.
Officers responded to the report of a shooting yesterday, July 11, at about 6 p.m., in the area of S. Second and Carlson streets. Upon arrival, they discovered the intended target of the shooting was able to avoid the gunfire.
Police said the victim was standing outside their home when a vehicle pulled over and stopped in front of the residence. Two hispanic males exited the vehicle and began to shoot at the victim before getting back in their vehicle and fleeing the area.
“Based on the preliminary investigation, this shooting was gang related,” police said in a news release.
Two days earlier, on Sunday afternoon, a gunshot victim showed up at Mee Memorial Hospital.
Officers responded to the incident July 9 at about 2:12 p.m. and identified the victim as a 28-year-old male from King City, though his name was not released. Police said he was treated at the hospital for a single gunshot wound, which appeared to be non-life threatening.
According to Capt. Allen Rowe, the circumstances surrounding the gunshot wound may not have occurred as reported to the police. No other details were available.
