KING CITY — King City’s ninth annual Trunk or Treat brought a record crowd to the Salinas Valley Fair Expo Lawn on Saturday, with nearly 2,000 people turning out for the Halloween festivities.
Hosted by the King City Recreation Department, the free event ran from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 31 and featured decorated vehicle trunks, a costume contest, prizes and food vendors.
According to Andrea Wasson, the city’s recreation manager, 1,775 attendees were counted at the gates, not including trunk decorators and volunteers, who brought the total closer to 2,000. She said this year’s turnout was the largest yet.
“We are also so appreciative of all of the community members who decorated their trunks to help provide a safe and fun activity for our community members to enjoy Halloween,” Wasson said.
The recreation department also thanked its sponsors and community partners, including Salinas Valley Fair, King City Veterinary Hospital, Debby Norman, David and Susan Gill, Creekside Farms, Paulette Bumbalough, Tacos La Potranca de Jalisco, Anita and Edwin McKean, Donna Myers, Mee Memorial Hospital, Steve and Cheryl Harrison, Randy’s Jumpers and King City Young Farmers.
