KING CITY — First Tee Monterey County will host a free summer day camp for King City Union School District (KCUSD) students from June 15 to Aug. 5, offering eight weeks of swimming, golf, ropes courses, nature hikes, animal welfare, photography, STEAM projects and academic enrichment for children ages 6 to 17.

Camp runs Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with drop-off at 613 S. Vanderhurst Ave. in King City. Registration is open through the KCUSD summer program enrollment portal, where families can select First Tee as their program of choice.

The first 100 children to sign up will receive a special First Tee kit that includes a T-shirt, hat, golf balls, tees, bag and a free bucket of golf range balls.

The camp pairs sport, outdoor recreation and creative learning with the character-building curriculum that has guided First Tee since the chapter took root in King City in 2013. Throughout the day, kids practice confidence, respect, perseverance, responsibility and teamwork — life skills built to travel with them to the classroom, the dinner table and everywhere in between.

“King City families have shown up for First Tee for more than a decade, and this camp is our way of showing up for them in return,” said Nathan Nuñez, director of development for First Tee Monterey County. “Working with KCUSD lets us offer a real summer — swimming, hiking, golf, animals, STEAM, the works — to every kid in the district at no cost. A child who has never picked up a club is going to leave this summer with new friends, new skills and a lot more confidence.”

The partnership with King City Union School District reflects a shared commitment to year-round youth development in South Monterey County. Activities take place across multiple locations and include environmental education and fitness in addition to First Tee’s core curriculum.

Space is limited. Families can register by scanning the QR code on program flyers distributed through KCUSD or by visiting the district’s summer enrollment page and selecting First Tee.
