PARKFIELD — A 45-year-old San Miguel woman was arrested Thursday after allegedly firing multiple shots toward an occupied vehicle in Parkfield, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded about 11 a.m. on May 21 to a reported shooting at a residence in the 84000 block of White Road.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the victim told deputies that Elena Juarez fired several rounds toward him while he was seated inside his vehicle. Deputies detained Juarez at the scene and recovered a Ruger .357-caliber revolver.

During the investigation, a witness reported seeing Juarez point the firearm toward the victim’s vehicle and fire from approximately 250 yards away, authorities said. Deputies determined multiple rounds were fired in the victim’s direction as he attempted to leave the property.

The victim also reported that additional shots were fired as he fled the area and believed one bullet struck a nearby tree, causing bark and debris to hit his vehicle, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Based on witness statements and evidence collected at the scene, Juarez was arrested and booked into Monterey County Jail on felony charges of assault with a firearm, shooting at an occupied vehicle and brandishing a firearm. Bail was set at $155,000.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information related to the incident is encouraged to contact the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office at 831-755-3700.
