SALINAS VALLEY — King City High’s senior 300m hurdler Jolea Celaya was the highest finisher from South Monterey County at the Central Coast Section Track and Field Semifinals last Saturday at Gilroy High School.

Celaya finished 15th in her specialty in a time of 47.75.

For the King City boys, senior discus thrower Armando Villasenor finished in 22nd place with a best of 140-5. Senior 400m specialist John Angel Ruelas placed 24th in a time of 51.56, and junior Carson Tidwell placed 30th in the 100 meters in a time of 11.24.

Soledad senior shot put thrower Ricardo Flores threw a best of 44-3, good for a 23rd placing. Gonzales sophomore Liz Baguio finished in 26th place with a mark of 28-8, and senior Izoida Ramirez finished in 29th place in the 3200m with a time of 12:43.

Greenfield senior Arlene Cruz competed in two events at CCS, placing 23rd in the triple jump with a mark of 31-8 and 22nd in the high jump with a best of 4-8.
