To the Editor:

I have lived as an American citizen for the last 84 years. I got to live this life because my family, before me, did the work, the fighting, the south and the north, and our indigenous warriors. Other citizens did the work of constructing our constitution.

My family’s blood is of the Cherokee Tribe, the Irish Scottish Tribe and the Welsh Tribe. The Welsh introduced churches and schools that taught the English language to much of the Cherokees and anyone else who would listen and pay attention.

Our America is the only country that lives by a written constitution. This allows most of us of different hues to live together with love and common sense; most of us. Because of this, I have an obligation to love and defend and honor America. So do you.

Two hundred fifty years, I think we almost got it right.
