SALINAS VALLEY — The dual meet season will conclude this week for South Monterey County high school track and field teams.

King City Mustangs will host the Hollister Balers on Wednesday at War Memorial Stadium starting at 3:30 p.m. The Mustangs (3-1) and Balers (4-0) compete in the Gabilan Division.

At Greenfield High on Thursday, the Greenfield Bruins will host a four-way meet that also includes Gonzales, Soledad and Marina. The Gonzales boys lead the Santa Lucia Division with a 6-0 record.

King City tuned up for the matchup with the Balers by taking first in the varsity division at the Allen Dunn Haybaler Invitational last Saturday. The Mustangs beat Hollister 110.5 to 105.

This Saturday the PCAL JV track finals will take place at North Monterey County High School in Castroville. The first event is scheduled at 9:30 a.m.

On May 1, the Mustang boys and girls varsity teams will compete in the Pacific Coast Athletic League’s Gabilan Division Varsity Championships at Andy Hardin Stadium in Hollister.

Also on May 1, the Spartan boys and girls teams will host the PCAL Santa Lucia Division Varsity Championships at Dick Force Stadium in Gonzales. The finals will be the first championship track finals on the newly renovated eight-lane, orange-and-black track.
