SALINAS VALLEY — Three South Monterey County high school soccer players were chosen as the Most Valuable Players of their respective divisions from the Pacific Coast Athletic League.

Gonzales High’s Jorge Uribe won back-to-back divisional MVP awards, Jesus Ortiz of Soledad High was the Cypress Division MVP and Offensive Player of the Year, and Janelle Garcia of Gonzales was the Cypress Division MVP.

Last year Uribe was MVP of the Cypress Division and this season he earned MVP of the Mission Division. In 2025-26, he led the Spartans to the Central Coast Section Championship and second place in the Nor Cal finals.

Ortiz helped lead the Aztecs to the championship of the Cypress Division and to a second-place finish in the CCS Division V title game.

Garcia was a standout for the Lady Spartans all season long and helped lead Gonzales to the Cypress Division Championship and a CCS playoff berth.

Joining Uribe as first-team All-League players from Gonzales were Mission Defensive Player of the Year Luis Cabada and Jorge Lara. Second-team All-League players from Gonzales were Luis Benevides, Kevin Tavares and Emmanuel Valdez.

King City first-team All-League players were Angel Moreno and Rafael Merino. Second-team players for the Mustangs were Emilio Padilla and Jayden Hernandez. Chosen to the Richard Chamberlin All-Sportsmanship team were Jorge Lara (Gonzales) and Eduardo Acosta (King City).

Soledad first-team All-League players in the Cypress Division were Jesus Ortiz, Bryan Alvarado, Jason Rico and Joshua Guzman. Second-team players for the Aztecs were Adrian Sanchez, Marcos Negrete, Julian Valdez and Daniel Magana. Christian Romero was chosen to the Richard Chamberlin All-Sportsmanship Team.

Alex Sanchez of Greenfield was a Gabilan first-team All-League player and Adrian Picazo was second-team All-League player. Daniel Altamirano was chosen to the Richard Chamberlin team.

For girls soccer in the Cypress Division, first-team All-League players were Isabella Camargo, Janelle Garcia, Izabella Mandujano and Alitzel Mauro (Gonzales); Aideliz Moreno, Isabella Calderon and Kim Zavala (Greenfield); and Destiny Mosqueda and Melody Sanchez (King City). Mosqueda was the Cypress Defensive Player of the Year.

Second-team players were Andrea Amador, Maryanne Camarena, Jennifer Fajardo and Zahaira Vega (Gonzales); Alexeen Sanchez, Rubi Dominguez and Aaliyah Ortiz (Greenfield); and Isabella Hernandez-Swift and Heidi Ortiz-Garcia (King City).

Chosen to the Richard Chamberlin All-Sportsmanship Team were Aliana Cuevas (Gonzales); Leilani Hernandez (Greenfield); and Eileen Quitana (King City).

In the Gabilan Division for girls soccer, Soledad’s Nichole Gonzalez was a first-team All-League player and Myrin Amilpa was a second-team player. The Soledad team was chosen as the Elgie Bellizio Sportsmanship Team and Emily Ortiz was named to the Richard Chamberlin All-Sportsmanship Team.
