SALINAS VALLEY — King City was well represented at the Pacific Coast Athletic League varsity tournament last Saturday as the boys and girls collectively finished in sixth place as a team.

Individually, 14 Mustang wrestlers punched their ticket into the Central Coast Section Southern Regional Tournament that will take place this Saturday in Watsonville.

King City boys placing at PCAL were: Angel Becerra (4th at 106); Deandre Esparza (5th at 150); Armando Villasenor (6th at 165); and Nate Vargas (3rd at 175).

King City girls placing at PCAL were: Miriam Garcia Matias (6th at 110); Shyrah Jackson (5th at 120); Makayla Montoya (3rd at 125); Sophia Garcia (7th at 130); Jharely Hidalgo (5th at 140); Margarita Hernandez Carreno (6th at 145); Nereida Celestino (7th at 155); Stephanie Perez (7th at 170); Hailey Adair (4th at 190); and Sophia Patino (2nd at 235).

In the JV division for King City, Cowboy Sanchez was the PCAL JV champion at 157, while Leslye Garcia Matias earned a third-place medal at 145.

Gonzales High will be represented at the CCS Regionals by 140-pound champion Juliet Amador and sixth-place medalists Andrew Tejeda at 215 pounds and Jesus De Lucas at 120 pounds.
