KING CITY — King City High School’s Drama Department is set to bring big laughs and show-stopping numbers to the stage with its upcoming production of “The Drowsy Chaperone Jr.”

With a cast of 20 high school performers and the support of six dedicated student crew members, this fast-paced musical comedy will run from Nov. 20-23 at the Robert Stanton Theater.

The vibrant adaptation follows the story of a musical-loving narrator who welcomes the audience into his favorite show — a 1920s romantic comedy filled with glamour, mistaken identities, tap numbers and nonstop fun. As the musical comes to life around him, audiences are treated to bold characters, energetic dance routines and plenty of laughs.

Under the direction of Drama teacher Jamie Jones, “The Drowsy Chaperone Jr.” is a joyful tribute to the magic of theater.

“Students have put in tremendous effort both onstage and behind the scenes,” Jones said. “Their creativity, teamwork and dedication truly shine in this production. They will impress and dazzle you with their performance.”

Performances are scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 22, at 7 p.m.; and a matinee on Sunday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

“This show marks a milestone of growth for the program, giving young performers and technicians the opportunity to build confidence, develop theater skills and share the joy of musical storytelling with the community,” Jones said.
