
SALINAS VALLEY — Cross country teams from South Monterey County competed in the Pacific Coast Athletic League’s Center Meets last Wednesday and Thursday at Pinto Lake in Watsonville.
The King City boys team competed in the Gabilan Division of the PCAL and the King City girls competed in the Mission Division and ran last Wednesday. Soledad’s boys and girls teams competed in the Cypress Division, while the Gonzales boys competed in the Santa Lucia Division and the girls competed in the Cypress. The Greenfield boys and girls teams ran in the Mission Division.
King City placed seventh in the varsity boys race and the girls placed third on the three-mile Pinto Lake course. The Greenfield boys placed fourth in the boys race and the girls placed seventh.
On Thursday at Pinto Lake, the Soledad boys placed seventh and the girls placed second behind Pacific Collegiate. Soledad’s Evelyn Lopez placed second overall in the girls race. The Gonzales boys won the Santa Lucia Division and were led by second-place finisher Victor Fierros.
The next PCAL Center Meets will take place next week at Toro Park in Salinas. This Saturday the local teams will compete at the Monterey Bay Invitational at Toro Park.
