
KING CITY — King City Lady Mustangs had a great start to the 2025 volleyball season as they wrapped up preseason with a 9-4 record.
In their last week of play, they swept Soledad and Pioneer Valley.
To start the season, Hollyn Hearne and Avery Munoz are leading the way for the offense. In last week’s matches, Hearne had 20 kills and 23 digs and Munoz contributed with 19 kills and 20 digs.
Blocking leaders so far are Jordan Davis and Gillian Ewart with a combined 10 blocks.
“We are also getting great production from our right-side hitters (Crystal Paramo and Ella Rubbo),” said King City head coach Christine Luna. “Alizah Carrillo is a leader in the back row and stepping up as our libero. Running the offense this year are setters Stephanie Velasquez and Taelyn Munoz.”
On Saturday, the Lady Mustangs competed in the San Mateo Bearcat Tournament and placed second after falling to Leland High School in the championship match.

“We are excited for our season ahead,” Luna said. “Can’t wait to see all our amazing fans in the stands cheering us on.”
Soledad went 2-1 last week, with a 3-1 win last Monday at North Salinas, the 3-0 setback to King City, and finished the week with a 3-0 win at home against Pajaro Valley.
A standout in the North Salinas game was Kyla Menendez, and Connie Zavala played a solid game in the win over Pajaro Valley.
Greenfield Bruins were 1-1 last week, beating Notre Dame at home by a 3-2 score and losing 3-2 in Salinas against North Salinas.
Gonzales was 0-1 last week, losing 3-0 to visiting Rancho San Juan of Salinas.
On Tuesday, King City hosted Palma; Soledad traveled to Gonzales; and Greenfield hosted Robert Louis Stevenson, after press deadlines.
On Thursday, the Lady Mustangs travel to Monterey to play Santa Catalina; Gonzales is at Pebble Beach against Stevenson; Soledad will host Everett Alvarez; and Greenfield travels to Watsonville. King City completes a busy week with a Friday game in Hollister.
Then, on Saturday, Gonzales will host the Gonzales Volleyball Tournament.
