KING CITY — Hannah Silva, a 16-year-old King City native, is set to represent California in three-position light rifle shooting at the National High School Rodeo Association (NHSRA) Finals this July in Rock Springs, Wyo.

This is Silva’s rookie year competing in the NHSRA, and she has already earned a spot among the nation’s best.

The light rifle event is a precision shooting competition in which athletes fire .22 caliber rifles from three different positions: prone, standing and kneeling. Competitors must demonstrate control, accuracy and consistency while shooting at targets from 50 feet away.

Silva’s hard work and focus throughout the season have paid off, and she is honored to represent both California and the King City community on the national stage.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to compete at nationals,” Silva said. “It’s taken a lot of practice and support to get here, and I’m incredibly grateful.”

She extends her heartfelt thanks to her generous supporters and sponsors, including Bassetti Farms, AQHA Stallion – Huntinhotties, Will Taylor Farms, Hitchcock Farms and the many friends and family members.

The NHSRA Finals will take place mid-July in Rock Springs, Wyo., and will feature top high school rodeo athletes from across the United States, Canada, Mexico and Australia.
