KING CITY — Sol Treasures is set to dazzle audiences this month with the high-energy musical comedy, “Something Rotten!”, directed by Jeff Hinderscheid.
The show will take place at the Robert Stanton Theater in King City, with performances scheduled for March 21 and 22 at 7 p.m., March 23 at 1 p.m. (matinee), March 28 at 7 p.m. and March 29 at 1 p.m. (matinee) and 7 p.m.
Set against the vibrant backdrop of the Renaissance, “Something Rotten!” follows the comedic journey of brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom. Eager to write a hit play and emerge from the shadow of the era’s theatrical superstar, William Shakespeare — lovingly referred to as “The Bard” — the Bottom brothers embark on an ambitious quest to create the world’s first musical after a soothsayer predicts a future filled with singing, dancing and acting.
Audiences can expect to be treated to an evening filled with laughter, catchy melodies and spectacular performances from a lively cast of over-the-top characters, each given their moment to shine. With adult humor woven throughout, parental guidance is advised for children ages 12 and under.
“We have three show-stopping tap numbers that will leave audiences wildly entertained,” said Co-Production Manager Jamie Jones, along with Hinderscheid. “This show is nonstop action, hilarious and references about 40 other musicals.”

The production features a talented ensemble of 28 cast members, with many hailing from Paso Robles, Salinas and The Peninsula.
Lead characters and their actors include: Nick Bottom (Hinderscheid), Nigel Bottom (Drew Tamez), Bea Bottom (Beau Rodriguez), Shakespeare (Kyle Richlin) and Portia (Maria Elena Mejia). Among the supporting characters are: Shylock (Reg Huston), Lord Clapham (Sam Machado) Nostradamus (Lochlan Rinkwine), Minstrel (Jones) and Brother Jeremiah (Francis Girard).
Notably, several cast members also play key roles in the production team: Hinderscheid (director, production manager, lighting design and set design), Jones (production manager and sound design), Richlin (choreographer) and Rodriguez (costumer). In a true display of teamwork, cast members have also contributed to working on the sets and costumes.
Join “Something Rotten!” for a night of unforgettable entertainment and witness the hilarity that unfolds in the Renaissance as the Bottom brothers strive for theatrical greatness.
