KING CITY — King City Mustangs completed the regular volleyball season with a home game against Santa Catalina and an away game at Carmel before battling Capuchino in the Central Coast Section (CCS) playoffs.

“We had a good final week of league play and had our Senior Night against Santa Catalina,” said King City head coach Christine Luna. “We have seven seniors this year and they are going to be greatly missed. It was a beautiful Senior Night to celebrate our seniors and we beat Catalina in three games.”

Hollyn Hearne and Iran Ibarra combined for 14 kills and 22 digs. Amity Hearne and Hayden Munoz combined for 10 kills. Xienna Novoa and Neida Nava had 16 digs and four aces between them, and Stephanie Velasquez and Janesa Lopez combined for 25 assists and three aces.

At Carmel, the Mustangs came out on fire winning the first set by 12 points. The next three sets were very close, although the home Padres won the contest.

Hollyn Hearne had 17 kills, along with 11 digs and three aces. Munoz added seven kills and two blocks, while Novoa had 25 digs and Lopez had five aces, 10 digs and 22 assists.

“We are very excited to see that we were seeded No. 2 in the CCS Division III playoffs,” said Coach Luna.

King City played Capuchino (San Bruno) at home on Tuesday night in the CCS Division III quarterfinals. The Mustangs lost the playoff contest, 3-0.
