To the Editor:
I have been a business owner in King City for decades. King City is my home, so I have an interest in seeing the community be the best it can be. We all want a safe, clean and attractive place to live and one filled with opportunity.
I have seen so many improvements in King City, mostly paid for by grants. However, more improvements are needed now. The city needs to have streets repaired, buildings painted and buildings re-roofed. We also need another school resource officer. These extra funds would also allow for some improvements in the recreation department.
On the November ballot, there will be a proposed 1/2-cent sales tax increase for King City. Potentially, it could add an estimated $1.2 million a year for 12 years to the city budget. Itās a fair tax because much of it will be paid at the gas pumps by travelers.
Currently, we are on the low end of the sales tax scale in comparison to other communities in the valley. A 1/2-cent increase would bring us up to par with the other valley towns.
Consider voting āyesā on Measure T for a 1/2-cent sales tax increase for King City. Letās keep our town moving forward.
