SAN ARDO — Monterey County Supervisor Chris Lopez and his District 3 team marked the fifth consecutive year of distributing pumpkins to South Monterey County students, thanks to a generous donation from Braga Fresh Farms.

Lopez celebrated his birthday Oct. 14 by joining the team in harvesting and delivering pumpkins to small rural schools in San Lucas, San Ardo and Bradley, as well as the Greenfield Community Science Workshop.

Students from San Ardo Elementary also helped by unloading the team’s pumpkin-filled trailer, and received pumpkins for themselves and their classmates.

“There was no better way to celebrate my birthday than to join my team in the field harvesting and delivering pumpkins to these deserving students,” said Lopez, noting the joy of seeing students’ smiles.

He added, “Braga continues to be a leader and innovator, bringing along our whole community in their success. Thank you to our friends for planting, caring for and donating these amazing pumpkins.”
