ARIEL SHOW

SALINAS — ARIEL Theatrical will enchant audiences with its adaptation of Carlo Collodi’s tale, “Pinocchio,” featuring a wooden puppet on a journey to discover honesty, kindness and selflessness. With the support of friends like a Talking Cricket and the Blue Fairy, Pinocchio faces amusing challenges while learning important lessons. The shows will run on Oct. 11, 12, 17, 18 and 19 at 7 p.m., with additional 2 p.m. matinees on Saturdays, at 320 Main St., Salinas. DEERP BEGINS

MONTEREY COUNTY — Monterey Bay Air Resources District (MBARD) will be accepting applications for grant funds through the Diesel Engine and Equipment Replacement Program (DEERP) beginning Oct. 2. Eligible equipment categories include: Off-road equipment replacements including agricultural equipment; marine engine replacements; and agricultural irrigation pump electrification projects. Grants cannot be used to satisfy existing air quality mandates or legal requirements; however, they can be applied to equipment that complies several years in advance of state regulations. Grant applications can be accessed online at mbard.org. The application deadline is Dec. 16. DEERP is part of California Climate Investments, a statewide initiative that puts billions of Cap-and-Trade dollars to work reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the economy and improving public health and the environment — particularly in disadvantaged communities.
